and exactly what kind of response would you have liked to see?
you write me a political response to this, and you have 4 minutes (thats how long it took the Obama camp to respond after it broke, or at least thats how long it took before they quoted a response.)
because not like Obama could actually say Bush is an idiot, we can, but the nominees have to show respect, so please, what is the better response?
Grow up. You think I'm going to do your little homework assignment just so you can tell me "no, I don't like your response, Obama's was much better"?
I'm extremely disappointed in what's happened to progressives during this campaign. We used to be able to call out Democrats for these weak and ineffective responses that do nothing to deter further Republican demagoguery. But because it's Obama, Greatest Candidate Ever, all of a sudden people are swooning and saying how they can't wait for more responses just like this in the GE.
I can't believe your only defense of his response is "hey, unless you can be a better presidential candidate than him, you're not allowed to criticize." Sheesh.
Apart from it being a weak response , it was bizarre.
Hasn't he been advocating he as president will talk to the terrorist regime in Iran one on one in his first year without precondition ?
you call it a weak response but then that means you should be able to say what would make it better.
you say its weak but can offer in 1 way how it could be improved upon?
I think it was a fine statement and have no problems with it, you have problems with it but can't say what should be changed.
You can't understand the concept that I feel it should be tougher?
Tell me, did you think John Kerry was effective in responding to the Republicans who accused him of coddling terrorists? If you did, awesome. My disappointment is that the same progressives who have been critical of Democratic spinelessness in the past suddenly fall over themselves in adulation when Obama reads from the exact same hymnal.
You might be expecting too much from Obama.
Check out his response to the 3 am ad , its the standard John Kerry Line " politics of fear " which is just pure garbage to me.
If this election is fought on National Security between John Mccain and Obama , democrats would be in trouble.
I felt the part where he tried to bring it back to the Iraq war and argue that he has the "judgment" to answer the 3am call was much more effective. However, while the Kerry-like stuff may get us nowhere in a GE, I guess it has some value in a Democratic primary where you can find enough people to say yeah, I agree national security should be off the table.
Frankly, I think it's humorous that anyone could describe an ad as innocuous as the 3am ad as "fearmongering." But hey, this is my party, you gotta love 'em.
Obama has painted himself into a corner. There is no 'right' response for him.
