Paul Kirk, Ex-DNC Chair And Superdelegate, To Endorse Obama

Speaking of math -- the Obama campaign rolls out another former DNC chairman's endorsement on Friday: Paul Kirk, a superdelegate who led the party from 1985-1989, is coming out for Obama -- a day after Andrew's switch, an Obama campaign official tells The Note. (And don't count on that being it for the day, as the dribble continues.)

so lets read the diaries and not just start deleting them THINKING we know what the diary said? ok?

Re: ONCE AGAIN, NEW ENDORSMENT TODAY (none / 0)

I was wondering where the diary went....

This is interesting news, but outside the grand scheme of those of us who pay attention to such things, I don't know how much any of the endorsements will equate to voter support....

Voter support? (none / 0)

This is a Superdelagate!

These are really the only voters left.

Re: Voter support? (none / 0)

There are still contests to be held...

Yes, the Supers will decide this thing ultimately, but endorsements don't mean anything at the moment... Until Denver, they could change their minds..  My point was that I don't know how this will translate to voter support in NC, IN, OR, and etc.

Re: Voter support? (none / 0)

1) this won't move any regular voters, may help other supers see ok the bandwagon is Obama, when should I jump on is it time now?

or do I want to wait till after Hillary forces me to vote on her stupid gas tax and now in the fall my opponent will be able to use it against me (thanks hillary)

2) I doubt any super from Obama will switch, unless something MAJOR happens, and in that case Obama would drop out. but otherwise Hillary just continuing in the contest and winning but not actually changing the math? no they won't leave Obama.

Re: Voter support? (none / 0)

My seatbelt has been fastened securely for quite a while as this will continue to get bumpier...

For the record, I think you are correct.

Also for the record, I hope someone talks Clinton OUT of a gas-tax holiday vote...  For someone who talks about the need to improve the infrastructure in this country... which is a conversation worth having, that is a ridiculous idea to say nothing of being a political landmine... why not just debate flag-burning while we are at it....

Re: Voter support? (none / 0)

The only superdelegates switching are Clinton's.
Why would it be the other way. According to the math and oh yea the rules he will win. Superdelegates like winners they aren't going to switch over non issues.

Re: Voter support? (none / 0)

I don't think the original poster was saying any would switch, just that they could.

That was what I meant.. thanks.

I'm no suggesting that they would or should but that they could...  Long way between now and then.

Re: ONCE AGAIN, NEW ENDORSMENT TODAY (none / 0)

now the censorship on this site is getting ridiculous

I understand whichever admin did it probably thought it was another Andrews diary, it simply means they didn't actually READ my diary before they deleted it or the tags, thats fine.

its was all of 4 likes kinda long. but from now on lets actually READ the diaries before deleting them and warning people for em saying its been posted before.

and the next time we have HRC supporters posting the same diary over and over and over I hope the admins are as fast to delete those as they were here.

Re: ONCE AGAIN, NEW ENDORSMENT TODAY (none / 0)

When I catch them, I do on both sides. That said, its not a priority. I think in the last couple of weeks, this is the second I've done, after some Clinton one a bit ago.  You'd be amazed to learn I don't sit here on the blog all day and I actually have other things to do...

Re: ONCE AGAIN, NEW ENDORSMENT TODAY (none / 0)

no I am amazed my diary got deleted and I got warned.

meaning someone saw my diary title and deleted it assuming they knew what it was about, but didn't bother to actually read my diary.

will that warn be taken off my account? what ramification in the future can happen on my account because of the admins mistake?

because I certainly better not see a well you were warned yesterday so today you are suspended for an admin mistake.

Re: ONCE AGAIN, NEW ENDORSMENT TODAY (none / 0)

I was wondering why the other one got deleted so quickly.  Truly disgusting that it did.

Excellent endorsement.

by Bobby Obama on Fri May 02, 2008 at 08:57:14 AM EST

Hmm... (2.00 / 1)

DCW added him on April 28, I guess this is the formal endorsement, but it doesn't change the numbers today.

Still, it's impressive that after Andrews' switch, Obama now has more former DNC chairs supporting him than Clinton.  She still has more regular DNC members though (the only category she leads in).

And Obama has more elected officials.

Re: ONCE AGAIN, (none / 0)

You know, you have to wonder if these people know anything. Because some are shutting themselves out of political circles for some time to come if HRC was to win the presidency. For some it won't matter, but guys like this one and Andrew yesterday I don't think they'd stick themselves out like this without being pretty darn sure who is going to win.

by Becky G on Fri May 02, 2008 at 09:44:25 AM EST

Re: ONCE AGAIN, (none / 0)

That's probably true, but they are obviously taking a calculated risk that Obama will win.  If Obama wins, they look much better for having jumped on his bandwagon early(ish).  If Hillary wins, they are screwed.

Paul Kirk

Ah, my bad. Truly a mistake. Too early. I thought it was a repeat of the Joe Andrews one and didn't read the whole thing.... flame away.

by Jerome Armstrong on Fri May 02, 2008 at 10:01:00 AM EST

Re: ONCE AGAIN, NEW ENDORSMENT TODAY (none / 0)

I think there's more than enough flame to go around in other diaries.  Seems like an honest mistake so I don't think it warrants any attacks on you.  One can hope anyway.

Re: ONCE AGAIN, NEW ENDORSMENT TODAY (none / 0)

haha, its an honest mistake that makes me smile.

And its a real humble honest smile.

The mistake is just indicative of too many SD's.

Also I want to thank the staff for fixing alot of our accounts yesterday.

Re: ONCE AGAIN, NEW ENDORSMENT TODAY (none / 0)

Best read my new post today which shows Hillary surging across the board. These few supers here and there mean nothing to the voters. Hillary is going to have a huge day on Tuesday.

Re: ONCE AGAIN, NEW ENDORSMENT TODAY (none / 0)

Unfortunately, SDs do mean something to the process.

She may pick up a few delegats based on the votes, but they will be quickly erased by SDs moving towards Obama.

not so long ago you were (none / 0)

telling us how the SDs care more about electability rather then who the winner of pledged voters is.

What happened to you man!!! What happened?

someone please start a dairy on this... (none / 0)

"Black Issues Group: Price to pay if Clinton wins through Superdelegates"

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/05/02 /black-issues-group-price_n_99759.html

You'll notice no one in the BIG talks about the rules which make it necessary for whomever wins to win through superdelegates.

You'll notice this is all about african americans and (implied) threats.

You'll notice no one complains about other rules that aren't democratic like:
texas primary/caucus duo rules
caucus rules in general
delegate assignment rules that benefit certain groups based on the 2006 election

etc.

If Clinton doesn't like caucuses why didn't she bring this up before the contest began?

lol  I realize the desperation to keep making hooplah out of each one endorsement, I guess that's all B O has buying for him now.
