Breaking: New Mental Disorder Sweeps the U.S.A.

Hillaryism

Defined as the belief that one is intrinsically superior to clinging members of the cult of Hillary Clinton.  The targets of this vial hatred are referred to as Hillaryists or Hilbs, as in "he's a freekin' hilb*, let's bust his balls."

Like racism and sexism before it, Hillaryism is found in all levels of society and raises it's ugly head in social circles and the work place.  Stories are beginning to come into this news room of people being threatened with loss of their job should they not seek a cure for what psychologists believe may be a fundamental problem in the hope receptor capacity of certain individuals.

Cures range from the controversial mind wipe to the simplistic but often dangerous rally attendance wherein an affected individual is dragged kicking and screaming by his/her loved ones into a rally so their ears may finally hear the voice.  Thankfully it normally takes only one treatment to cure even the toughest cases.

The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) is fast tracking a study as to the viability of adding Hilbs to the list of disabilities covered under the ADA.  Check back later for updates.

* HILB is a derivation of the derogatory term HillBot.

Hey NewHampster (2.00 / 4)

Are you going to DC tomorrow?

I want to go very badly but cannot. If you do go... scream your head off for me too, OK? :)

I was at the Baruch rally on Tuesday... it helped to be there to celebrate her. We had a historic, incredible journey and got tantalizingly close.

Just want you to know, I feel as you do... that we have ALL missed out on the opportunity and honor of having Hillary Clinton as our President.

But this is no swan song, she will prevail as a leader for years to come. Of that I have absolutely no doubt. Good things are in store for Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Stand proud... and thank you for all that you personally did for Hillary!

Hey! Stop giving 'em crap! Empathize! (2.00 / 1)

I could have just as easily been a Hillaryism instead of the Obama supporter I am now.

It's in everyone's best interests to hold out a hand! Stop giving shit to Hillary supporters...especially when they come up with funny/snarky posts like this!

Everyone has their own way of dealing with these types of things; and, IMHO, this is a hell of a lot more constructive than some of the Hillary-/Obama-hate stuff I've seen in the past few days, too.

Lighten up!

Kudos for a funny post! There is truth in all humor...'specially when it comes to political humor.

by bobswern on Fri Jun 06, 2008 at 10:09:33 AM EST

there will be more empathy... (2.00 / 2)

When the diarist ceases to laud unsubstantiated tripe from No Quarter and ceases to advocate the election of John McCain. Neither tendency inspires much empathy among those who argue on behalf of the principles of the Democratic Party... including, for that matter, Hillary Clinton.

Re: Breaking: New Mental Disorder Sweeps the U.S. (2.00 / 2)

BO should push for this, but not universal, just for civilians who spend more than 20 hours a week watching, reading, blogging about politics.

PPSD has set in for me too, I'm exhausted!

Now lets hope I can salvage my job (productivity dropped 50% for me the last 6 months :D )

Re: Breaking: New Mental Disorder Sweeps the U.S. (2.00 / 2)

Victimhood is a self-defeating commitment and does not lead to empowerment.  There are jerks aplenty in this world.  Not news.  Jerkdom is an equal opportunity affliction.  Clyburn's office was inundated with vicious and racially tinged calls and emails after he endorsed Obama.  Anyone who tries to lay this at Hillary Clinton's feet or at the feet of 'her supporters,' as if there is a group that can be tarred with this crap is freaking crazy.  My preferred method for dealing with jerks is: 1. point out where their slime doesn't make any sense and 2. proceed to a more reasonable conversation with a more reasonable interlocutor.

Re: Breaking: New Mental Disorder Sweeps the U.S. (2.00 / 1)

This needs reworking. In the first sentence you say that "Hillaryism" is prejudice against Sen. Clinton and her supporters, but in the second sentence you say that "Hillaryists" are the targets of that prejudice. Which is it?

The "mind wipe" is a science fiction trope and doesn't really work in contemporary political satire.

This is also a little outdated. Sen. Clinton was certainly the target of a lot of undeserved vitriol during the heat of the primary. But now that the primary is over, people are starting to calm down and preparing to support her in her next Senate campaign. The only people that are still bad-mouthing her are Republicans, and, honestly, who cares what they think? This would have been funnier if you'd posted it last month.

Let me tell you something, (2.00 / 4)

I was alone on the World Wide Web--without a single companion--for two or three months fighting for Hillary after she announced she was running for president.  I took many bruises, and no one was standing up to help me.  Finally, around March or April, folks like alegre and campskunk showed up.

The result we got is not the result I fought for, but I have been through two near fatal situations in the last 10 years, and the one thing I have learned is the one thing I advise if you want to survive:  Roll with punches and adjust to the situation.

Hillary knows this.  She and I are peas in a pod on this issue.  She will vote for Barack Obama in the fall, and so will I.

That's it, baby; let's go win this election!
by Beltway Dem on Fri Jun 06, 2008 at 11:07:03 AM EST

Re: Let me tell you something, (2.00 / 3)

But, don't you know that her true supporters are going to support her by punishing Obama and voting for McCain!

Of course, in doing so....they are punishing Hillary as well.

The complete and utter lack of logical thought behind voting for McCain to show support for Hillary is astounding. She must be absolutely galled to have such insanity going on in her name.

Hillary is Democrat.
Hillary has spent her life fighting for the Democratic Cause.
Hillary will continue to fight for the Democratic Cause.
Hillary will support and vote for Obama.
Hillary will ask her supporters to support and vote for Obama.
The VAST majority of Hillary Supporters will vote for Obama and continue, with Hillary, to fight for the Democratic Cause.

To fight for or promote anything else, yet still call oneself a Hillary Supporter...is completely Oxymoronic.
EmPHAsis on 'moronic'.

To be honest, (2.00 / 1)

I know these people.  They are good people.  They are in shock and disbelief.  When my mind has been wrapped around one idea for a long time, I have to develop a new story.  They need to write a new story, and they haven't done it yet.  Once they have, they will be in here swinging.

We need to be patient.  These people are good Democrats, and they'll come around.  I promise.
